Note: I am not responsible for websites after handover, so sites may look different compared to the previews below.
When I first asked Laine Sutherland to design a website and book cover for me, I wondered if what I wanted would be too daunting a task. This was before I knew her, so… before I knew what she was capable of.
I am writing a series of historical sea stories that contain suspense with an undercurrent of the supernatural. I don’t recall exactly how I described what I wanted, but stormy, dark, turbulent and a little spooky are words I might have used.
What Laine came up with was nothing short of astonishing. Both for the book cover and the website: a wild seascape with colors in grays, blues and blue-blacks that had the look of a squall line rolling in. It is no exaggeration to say the result was — and still is — breathtaking. I can never just glance at these; I pause every time and savor what she’s done.
What she ended up designing for my site — https://maxmaccaigh.com and the first book in the series — Souls Adrift — will end up being more than a site design and book cover; they will be, in fact already are, my author brand.
Awesome work, Laine. I can’t thank you enough
